Here is a big one- I've worked on upgrading and making contributions to the world all of my life, yet I have a strict morality which precludes that I don't get along very well with the business set. As the result, (albeit I am not a bigot and view life with much largesse) I have never donw ell financially.
But wait- times have changed, but in the old days, weren't womens signs of good fortune the twinklers around their necks and on their married ring finger? I had all that- I made gold and silver jewellery myself. Of course, I was considered to be a duck out fo water in my day, a time when men considered smithing an entirely mens' realm.
Yes, I have enough to eat most of the time, and I have always been able to put this into perspective.No way do I have to eat grubs out of trees or dig around in city dumps for a little bit of food matter. That's true poverty. So, although we are a very money oriented society, I really haven't been the "money addict" who loses a sense of perspective. I have head these whiners and they piss me off enormously. These dingalings come and bother me for money because they think they are important. They have a burning desire to be more important- "but, I only make $70,000 A YEAR AND i'M 28!" these babes will howl, or- I only have a million a year, some stuffed shirt will grumble. I point out that I have rarely had more than ten thousand a year to live on. I can remember a corker, actually. No names, but I had to go to the food bank a few times 20 years ago. I had a poorly paying job and worked very, very hard physically. When I got my cans and day old bread home, I opened up my fave- some watered rye bread. Inside each slice was a full layer of green mildew. As I was going for the bread, the owner of this town food mall called in; he (he claimed) had been so kind as to donate this bread, and now I owed him a favour. It was the kind of favour that I would call a contract. I was appalled at this intelligent man and his awesomely overblown miserliness. It seems a bunch of people had become fanatical at making every particle of their existence to pay them twice. I let him know how I felt. I am an intelligent woman and still own my dignity. I marvel at how real money addiction turns affluent people into real beggars. And how. Shame on youall.
